South Passage Bar Crossing Course

 Have you ever wondered what's beyond the horizon? Going offshore is not for the faint hearted and requires special training that Boat Coach can help with. Crossing the bar can be daunting but our highly qualified trainer, Ben, will help you gain confidence to cross the bar to assist you on your way to new adventures. We use South Passage Bar as this is the largest sandbar crossing on the east coast of Australia.

Please note, this is our most complex course and requires you have to some experience on the water.

What this course offers:

• Understanding the Optimal Conditions for Bar Crossings (Tides, Wind, Swell)
• Understanding your VHF Marine Radio
• Understanding the main channels of South Passage and how they change
• Learning and applying information on boat positioning
• How to read waves
• GPS Coordinates
• Practical application of crossing South Passage
• Physical handouts on the information learnt on the day to take home
